Rissani is a town in eastern Morocco, located near Erfoud. It is in the region of Er-Rachidia, on the edge of the Erg Chebbi, the largest sand desert in Morocco.Five minutes walk west of Rissani lies the ruined site of the first independent kingdom of the south , the Sijilmassa, from the 8th to the 14th century. These are the ruins of the first Arab and Islamic city of Morocco.
